Coyote and Selected Poems by
 Lamar Thomas

Ghost

After knowing the facts of speech,
and after searching through the passions,
I try to write her amber face
 that wilts into the shadows.
I try to see the world
 through her own dark eyes.
And though we hold and touch,
 and kiss and converse,
 there is always the doubt
 that we ever did meet.
